Veterans Care for the Elderly

I would like to take a moment and thank our veterans. After years of service, they deserve to be taken care of by us. Many seniors who have served in the military are looking for in home care or a nursing home to meet their needs and they do not look into their benefits.

Understanding these benefits can help to save you thousands of dollars and can reduce the pressure on your family. There are some great resources with information on veterans benfits, but I thought a short breakdown of the biggest steps to take might be worth it.

If you have served for a number of years in the US military, you should :

1. Confirm your assetts and income.

2. Contact the VA Office about your personal benefits. (They will ask about the information from step 1)

3. Review your Social Security and Medicare eligibility along with other benefits such as private insurance that might help to cover your long-term care costs.

By taking these simple steps, you can often get better can and be confident that you are properly using your benefits for senior care.

  4. I can definitely agree that, after all they've done for us, veterans deserve to be taken care of. There's a veteran that lives near me that is looking at different retirement homes right now. It'll be sad to see him leave, but I'm sure he'll be well taken care of wherever he goes.

  5. This is information that many people should know. My grandparents are too elderly to live by themselves at home. I have started looking into different nursing homes for them.
